The handover is a system, too.

THE SHORT ANSWER

A useful MEP handover brings together test records, as-built drawings, equipment information and operator training. Agree the required deliverables before the installation begins.

Agree the acceptance criteria

List the tests, responsibilities and documentation required under the contract and approved design. Track open items with named owners.

Make the information usable

Organise drawings by discipline and revision. Connect equipment schedules to manuals, warranties and maintenance instructions.

Walk the building with the operator

Locate isolators, access panels and controls. Record training and remaining defects. Confirm who handles post-handover issues and how they are reported.

Your next step

Bring the project location, available drawings and intended scope to an initial discussion. The right next step depends on the building and its existing services.

Build your project brief

Editorial planning checklist. Scope and acceptance requirements should be agreed with the appointed project team.
