Better cooling starts with better questions.

THE SHORT ANSWER

An HVAC retrofit brief should describe occupancy, comfort problems, existing equipment and access constraints. A site assessment is needed before equipment can be sized or savings estimated.

Describe the problem

Record which rooms are uncomfortable, when the problem occurs and how occupancy changes. Include maintenance history and existing controls.

Assess before replacing

Ask a qualified team to review condition, distribution, ventilation and controls alongside equipment capacity. Replacement alone may not resolve every comfort issue.

Compare the whole scope

Request clear inclusions for removal, electrical works, drainage, controls, testing and making good. Compare equivalent scopes rather than equipment prices alone.

Your next step

Bring the project location, available drawings and intended scope to an initial discussion. The right next step depends on the building and its existing services.

Build your project brief

Editorial planning checklist. Scope and acceptance requirements should be agreed with the appointed project team.
